ESC+Plus has talked to Viki Singh, semifinalist of this year’s Hungarian national selection for Eurovision. Viki will perform «Rain» in the first semi-final of A Dal which will take place today.
ESC+Plus: Hello! First of all, thank you so much for your time and congratulations on having been selected to take part in the Hungarian national selection for Eurovision 2017!
What impelled you to take part in “A DAL 2017”?
Viki Singh: We made the song before deciding to show it to the public, and we thought A Dal was a great opportunity to do so.
ESC+Plus: How did you feel when you knew you had qualified for the next phase of the competition? Did you expect it?
Viki Singh: I was really happy and shocked at the same time. I needed a few minutes to calm down and realise it
ESC+Plus: What would it mean to you to represent Hungary?
Viki Singh: It would be a dream come true for me!
ESC+Plus: Can you tell us about your song? What is the story behind the lyrics?
Viki Singh: The composer is Szabolcs Harmath and lyrics are written by Angelika Iványi. They are both good friends of mine. Angelika was even my flatmate for a while, so she knows me inside out.
ESC+Plus: Why do you think your song has to be selected for Kiev? What are you strengths to reach the top in the competition?
Viki Singh: Love is the most important thing in the world. If you don’t have love in your life you have nothing. You have to fight for it and that is the message of my song.
ESC+Plus: Will you change anything of your stage performance or you prefer to keep it same?
Viki Singh: I will change it a bit but its a surprise.
ESC+Plus: Do you usually watch Eurovision? What is your favorite song in the history of the competition?
Viki Singh: I do and my favourite song is Euphoria by Loreen, 2012.
ESC+Plus: If you could choose a Eurovision former participant to sing along with, who would it be?
Viki Singh: Loreen.
