Melodifestivalen to choose Swedish act for Kiev tonight!

This year’s Melodifestivalen will come to an end today live from Stockholm. The winner of tonight’s Grand Final will be awarded the honor to represent Sweden at the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest, to be held next 9, 11 and 13th of May at the International Exhibition Center in Kiev.

A total of twelve acts will perform tonight. Eight of them have been chosen from four previous semifinals, whilst the remaining four semifinalists were chosen from the Andra Chanson (or Second-Chance show) last Saturday. The votes cast by the Scandinavian country and its audience as well as those awarded by an international jury, formed by 11 countries, will decide the winner.

The 12 finalists who are competing to represent the country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 are:

  • Ace Wilder – «Wild Child»
  • Boris René – «Her Kiss»
  • Lisa Ajax – «I Don’t Give A»
  • Robin Bengtsson – «I Can’t Go On»
  • Jon Henrik feat. Aninia – «En värld full av strider» (Eatneme gusnie jeenh dåaroeh)
  • Anton Hagman – «Kiss You Goodbye»
  • Mariette – «A Million Years»
  • FO&O – «Gotta Think About You»
  • Nano – «Hold On»
  • Wiktoria – «As I Lay Me Down»
  • Benjamin Ingrosso – «Good Lovin'»
  • Owe Thörnqvist – «Boogieman Blues»

You can find the 11 countries making up the international jury panel below:

  • Armenia: Iveta Mukuchyan
  • Australia: Stephanie Werret
  • France: Edoardo Grassi
  • Israel: Tali Eshkoli
  • Italy: Nicola Caligiore
  • Malta: Gordon Bonello
  • Norway: Anette Lauenborg Waaler
  • Poland: Mateusz Grzesinski
  • United Kingdom: Simon Proctor
  • Czech Republic: Jan Bors
  • Ukraine: Victoria Romanova

Among the spokespeople we can find some familiar names, such as Iveta Mukuchyan, who represented Armenia at the last year’s contest in Stockholm with «LoveWave»; Edoardo Grassi, who is the Head of the French Delegation for the contest and Victoria Romanova, who was initially appointed as one of the heads and producers of this year’s Eurovision in Kiev, something which will not finally happen due to her resignation last February.

As usual in this Swedish extravaganza, artists who rose to fame internationally are often invited to perform at the Interval Act, this year Zara Larsson will do so performing her hit «Ain’t My Fault» among other tracks.

The show will take place live from Solna’s Friends Arena in Stockholm and will be broadcast live from 20:00 CET onwards. The three Swedish TV celebrities in charge of conducting and presenting the transmission will be humorist Clara Henry, singer Hasse Andersson and singer David Lindgren. These two already participated in the contest several times.
