Tonight, Portuguese public TV station RTP will be holding the grand final of their traditional Festival Da Canção in Lisbon. Eight different artists, previously chosen during the past couple of weeks, will be competing to represent Portugal at the biggest music stage in the world.
The venue chosen for the occasion will be different from the two semi-finals which were held at RTP’s studio 1, known as Coliseu Dos Recreios, they are doing it big again!
All 16 initial participating acts were privately chosen by the 16 composers who were first approached by RTP to write songs exclusively for the festival. For the first time, they also allowed the songs to be performed 100% in English language. Tonight there will be just one song in the language out of the three which were set to be performed in English.
These are the 8 acts who will fight to get the Portuguese ticket for Eurovision 2017 in Ukraine:
- Jorge Benvinda – Gente Bestial
- Pedro Gonçalves – Don’t Walk Away
- Lena D’Agua – Eu Nunca Me Fui Embora
- Salvador Sobral – Amar Pelos Dois
- Fernando Daniel – Poema A Dois
- Celina Da Piedade – Primavera
- Deolinda Kinzimba – O Que Eu Vi Nos Meus Sonhos
- Viva la Diva – Nova Glória
The winner will be decided by combining the votes from an expert panel (distributed on seven different Portuguese regions including islands) and the televoting on an equal rate (50/50). The event will be introduced by Sílvia Alberto and Catarina Furtado.
Portugal was drawn to perform at the 1st semifinal of this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, who do you want to win the selection? Would any of these acts improve the latest Portuguese disappointing results in the contest?
